Qantas has officially begun operating its daily nonstop flights between Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and Sydney exclusively with its Airbus A380, with the US Airport describing the move as a major milestone for international travel at DFW.
The move signals a strong year ahead for the airport, according to DFW. “If there’s any indication that this year is going to be BIG at DFW Airport, this is it,” the airport said. “This added capacity adds even more travel possibilities for our North Texan, Australian and oneworld Alliance mates.”
The upgrade, which took effect significantly increases capacity on the route with the A380, the world’s largest passenger aircraft, now operating every daily service between the two cities.

The launch is enabled by the recent return to service of Qantas’ tenth and final A380, Paul McGinness, which rejoined the fleet following nearly six years in storage. Its reactivation represents the largest maintenance check in Qantas’ 105-year history, with global engineering teams completing more than 100,000 hours of work, including extensive inspections, heavy maintenance and a full cabin refresh.
Each Qantas A380 features 14 First, 70 Business, 60 Premium Economy and 341 Economy seats, all within a refreshed cabin configuration that includes an upgraded First Class experience, upper-deck lounge and expanded premium seating.
“We know our customers love our A380 aircraft and last year our superjumbo fleet carried over 1 million people on our international network,” Qantas International CEO Cam Wallace said back in December.

“The return of our final A380 means we can offer even more seats on popular long-haul routes to destinations like Dallas, Singapore and Johannesburg.”
Qantas has also announced new First Class enhancements across its A380 fleet, including elevated dining, exclusive Aesop amenity kits, Bollinger champagne and redesigned pyjamas.
The daily A380 service further strengthens the Sydney–Dallas route, unlocking seamless one-stop connections to more than 230 destinations across the US through Qantas’ partnership with American Airlines, while reinforcing DFW’s position as a key global gateway.
